Mohamed Muizzu (President of the Maldives) inspected the progress of the Hulhumalé Phase III land-reclamation project on 10 November 2025. The total reclamation target is 63 hectares; so far approximately 24 hectares have been reclaimed. Work had been paused earlier due to revisions to the master plan for Hulhumalé, but dredging has now resumed. The reclaimed land will be used for residential, industrial and marina development and intended to ease housing shortages in the Greater Malé region.
