At the official Republic Day ceremony in Malé, the Minister of Dhivehi Language, Culture and Heritage, Adam Naseer Ibrahim, said that the Muizzu government is stable, principled, and committed to justice and long-term national planning. He reflected on the Maldives’ historical shift from a hereditary monarchy to a republic, emphasising that the elected leader must govern with faithfulness and honesty toward the people. He pointed to certain qualities that a just ruler must have: honesty, ability to establish justice, commitment to religious ethics, capacity to understand the status and conditions of people, and public consultation. He said these values are being embodied by President Muizzu’s administration, citing its emphasis on religion and nationalism, efforts for judicial independence, and public engagement. The government is said to be finalising a 20-year national development plan as part of its strategic planning.
